Spiritual Protection That Is Stronger Than Shielding

Did you think that spiritual protection meant that you were surrounded by a big energy shield? 

Did you think that spiritual protection meant that God did all the work, and that you passively did nothing for yourself? 

Could there be a connection between being focused, in a special way, and being spiritually protected? 

There are many stories about spiritual teachers telling students to be focused. Focus on your immediate task, the teachers say, and you will attain a higher state of consciousness. This may be easier said than done. That is because you exist at many levels-- your body, your emotions, your thoughts, and your soul. Any one of these aspects may be out of sync, focusing on something other than what you are actually doing. And you may not even realize that your various aspects are so scattered.

I had the need to be present and focused yesterday, because I was attending a funeral for a friend’s father. Usually I find funeral services energetically heavy, and I seem to have difficulty staying centered in such circumstances. Now I realize why. Although I usually imagine myself as being in divine light, I was leaving some important steps out. I explored the following empowering steps throughout the event, and found the experience fairly comfortable-- even delightful at times. Here is what I did to spiritually protect myself:

I spoke to each of my aspects before the event-- my body, my emotions, my thoughts, and my soul. I gave them each a job. They were to focus on maintaining my unique identity throughout the event. That means, for example, that my body was to maintain its identity as my body, and not anyone else’s body. 

You may wonder why you would need to remind yourself to "be yourself". When you are with people, and they are feeling strong emotions, your aura can be overwhelmed by these strong energies. Your aura actually starts to resonate with the surrounding negative energies. This can shift your body, emotions, and thoughts so that you are feeling and thinking as the crowd feels and thinks. This limits your freedom to choose your own feelings and thoughts. 

A typical technique often taught for such situations, is to imagine your aura as being strong and bright, and protected by divine light. This works, to some extent. However, it has limits, because in spite of the power of divine light, you are still resonating with negativity. This is because your own subconscious is open to the surrounding influences. And that is why I found it more effective to give my aspects their special job-- to maintain my own unique identity. Here is why this method works. . .

When your body is focusing on maintaining its unique identity, it has no time for fear. It has no time for resistance. It is only attending to its job-- maintaining its unique identity. 

I added a visualization to this process. I imagined that my soul, existing as inner divine light, shined into each of my aspects, to give them a direct experience of the radiant soul. My soul light was shining my unique soul identity directly into my body-- into every cell. And, my soul light was shining my soul identity directly into my emotions and thoughts. It is not enough for you to simply imagine light. This method works because the light aligns you with your own unique identity. You intend this. You do not passively hope it will happen. 

At various times during the funeral service, I reminded my body, emotions, thoughts, and soul about their job. I was able to do this while listening and participating in the service. I have a new understanding of spiritual protection now, because it is not based on the old-fashioned shield concept. I have noticed that whenever people talk about spiritual protection, they want a super strong shield around themselves. And there seem to be limits to that method. That is because the shield is based on fear. 

When you focus instead on aligning with your unique identity, you are creating natural protection. It is a protection based on the universal principle of resonance. When you are resonating at your own unique vibration, you are not in alignment with any other vibration that could confuse you. 

And this is the secret of spiritual protection. You are not trying to avoid anything. You are not trying to fight anything. You are simply aligning with your own unique vibration. 

I encourage you to empower yourself with these simple, yet powerful techniques. Each time you align with your own identity, you are building your inner power, which is your true power. This power is based on your identity as a unique soul, shining your divine presence into your unique body, and into your unique emotions and thoughts. 

You may wonder why your soul would be so special and unique. Whatever name you choose to give the Creator, your soul is created from a divine intelligence, and your soul is made from divine substance. And this divine substance that forms your soul has been given its own unique identity, distinct from all other souls in the universe. And that is why. . . 

Connecting with your own unique identity also connects you with the Infinite Divine Source of all creation. This Infinite Divine Source, known in many religions as God, Brahma, Allah, Great Spirit, Sat Nam, and more, shares love, wisdom, protection, and abundance with you in each moment.
